Steampunk Wall Clock

I am back! I know it has been a while since my last post, but nursing school has been very demanding.

I want to share what I made for one of my nephews. I found out my nephew Gage loves steampunk as much as I do (maybe even more, is that even possible?!). He wanted to have a steampunk clock for his room and his mom asked me if I could alter one for him.

I had never done something this big before. I was pretty excited to make something that someone I love could enjoy. I think I was stressing about it a little too.

I started off with a clock from Walmart. It was pretty plain, but using some acrylic paint and alcohol inks it turned into a nice bronze color. I particularly enjoyed creating the gears. They are made of Foam Sheet 12″X18″ 2mm-White 10 per pack. I cut them up using a pattern and then made them look like metal. I used Liquitex Professional Modeling Paste Medium, 8-oz to add texture to the gears. I used a lot of Ranger Adirondack Brights Alcohol Ink 1/2-Ounce 3/Pkg, Valley Trail to make sure the color looked right.

This was a very important project for me. I really hope that Gage enjoys it for a very long time. I will probably make one in the future for my house, because my husband and I love everything steampunk.

I hope you enjoyed the project.

Thank you for visiting!
